For now though, we’d like to wish a belated Father’s Day to all you amazing daddies out there. We hope you had a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday. Of course, it wasn’t just a big weekend for fathers, its was a big weekend for the U.S. Army. They celebrated their 250th birthday, in grand style. That story leads off today’s news so lets get to it!

Saturday saw six thousand troops and over a hundred and twenty tanks parade through the streets of Washington D.C. It also just so happened to coincide with Donald Trump’s seventy-ninth birthday. He’s wanted a military parade since his first term in office and boy did he get one! According to the White House, the massive parade, with a budget reported at around forty-five million dollars, drew about a two hundred and fifty thousand attendees. Saturday ALSO saw over five million people at the anti-Trump “No Kings” PROTESTS across the country.

In other news, ICE has reportedly been instructed to put the brakes on arresting immigrants at hotels, restaurants, and farms, even as Donald Trump has ordered detentions and deportations to ramp UP! Trump posted on Truth Social that federal agencies were to “do all in their power” to achieve the “largest mass deportation program in history”. But at a White House event, he talked about a future “order” that would protect industries that rely on immigrant workers – agriculture, hotels and the like. ICE is currently averaging thirteen hundred arrests a day.

And if you’ve been hoping to enjoy nature on a budget, Thursday’s your next chance! The U.S. National Parks Service is offering free admission to ALL its parks! June nineteenth, or “Juneteenth”, is one of the Service’s eight “Fee Free Days” this year. So any of the parks that have admission fees will be waiving them, though there WILL still be charges for activities like camping and tours. The annual “Fee Free Days” do tend to be popular, though, so it’s suggested that you get there early! I just want to know why luxury hotels don’t have “fee-free days”. Is that really so much to ask? I’ll be back in a bit, so don’t go anywhere!
