Sarah, everyone’s been talking about the Air Canada strike and how it’s affected hundred of thousand of people. Do you think airlines should be considered an essential service, so its employees shouldn’t be allowed to strike? Well, that’s a topic that may be on the table at some point, but luckily right NOW, it looks like it won’t be necessary!

That’s because Air Canada and the union have reached a tentative agreement! Emily’s got the details to kick off today’s headlines!

After a long night with a mediator, Air Canada and the union representing flight attendants announced a tentative agreement in the strike that shuttered Canada’s largest airline! One of the biggest issues for flight attendants was the fact they currently have mandatory duties, both before and after a flight, that they don’t get paid for. And while details of the new agreement haven’t been released, the union DID declare, quote, “unpaid work is over”. And for travelers, flights will gradually resume starting Tuesday evening!

In other news, the right wing network Newsmax is SETTLING its defamation case with Dominion Voting Systems. They’ll pay out sixty-seven MILLION dollars for falsely claiming that Dominion’s voting machines were involved in fraud to rig the 2020 presidential election. Despite the settlement, in a statement, the network continued to deny it defamed Dominion, and said it didn’t believe the court would have provided a fair trial.

And the U.S. State Department says it’s revoked over six THOUSAND international student visas! About two-thirds of the revocations were because the visa holders broke the law – primarily assaults, burglaries, and D.U.I. offenses. Others were for unspecified “support for terrorism”, which some reports suggest represents being involved in protests supporting Palestine. This all comes as the Trump administration is cracking down on student visa applications, too.

Four thousand law-breaking students isn’t great, of course, but for perspective, there are well over a MILLION international students in the country! I’ll be back with more headlines shortly so don’t go away.
