Hello, everyone, I’m Eila Adams! Welcome to Naked News. And a big welcome back to Serenity Cox who’s joining us today! Okay, we’ve got a great show today and we’ll get it started with a question for you. How are you currently feeling about self-driving cars? Well, another major American city is about to test autonomous vehicles, but this time, with a bit of a catch.

Emily Pineda is in the Naked Newsroom with the story.

Waymo – the autonomous car giant with the same parent company as Google – is feeling the Brotherly Love! They recently announced that it’ll begin testing a limited fleet in Philadelphia. But unlike other cities where Waymo is operating, they’ll be testing with human “safety drivers” behind the wheel. The main purpose of this testing will be to collect mapping data and see how Waymo does in new environments.

In other news, measles is back in America, with a vengeance. It was officially declared eliminated in the U.S. back in 2000, but anti-vaccine sentiment has allowed it to return. Johns Hopkins has released data showing there have been at least twelve hundred and seventy-seven cases in 2025 so far. Not only is that number a thirty-three-year high, it’s likely a SEVERE undercount, as many cases will go unreported.

And Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has announced a WhatsApp messaging alternative that works entirely over Bluetooth! And because “Bitchat” messages move through Bluetooth mesh networks, you don’t need internet access or even a phone number to send them! And because the messages are stored only on devices, they disappear by default and they never pass through centralized infrastructure. In other words, they’re much harder for Big Brother to look at OR to block!
