Hello, everyone, I’m Eila Adams, and I’d like to welcome the amazing Hazel Grace back to the program! Hazel, we have a lot of catching up to do, but right now, I’m going to lean on your expertise as a Floridian! I know it’s beautiful down there, but are there things about the weather that might surprise us? Well, as you probably know, Florida’s just starting to be hit by a gigantic dust cloud that traveled a long way to get there!

Here to give us the dusty deets is Isabella in the Naked Newsroom.

Dusty is right, Hazel, Florida’s getting hit with a giant DUST cloud from over FIVE THOUSAND MILES away, specifically the SAHARA DESERT! It’s the result of a phenomenon called the Saharan Air Layer, which forms every few days from the late spring to early fall. And on the rare occasion, the cloud reaches the Gulf Coast! Floridians should prepare for diminished air quality – but on the plus side, the dust also prevents thunderstorms AND makes for beautiful sunsets!

Of course, a more dramatic way to get bad air is to have a VOLCANO ERUPT… and that’s exactly what happened on Monday with Sicily’s Mount Etna! It could have been worse, mind you, as dozens of tourists were ON the volcano at the time… but it’s been reported that everyone was evacuated safely. A Spectacular scene that they’ll surely never forget!

And a Romanian citizen has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a years-long campaign of bomb threats and “swatting” across the U.S. In fact, according to the Justice Department, Thomasz Szabo targeted journalists, religious institutions, and over seventy-five public officials, including a former U.S. president! For those not familiar with “swatting”, that’s when you falsely report an emergency to provoke an aggressive response from law enforcement. The two charges Szabo pleaded guilty to carry maximum penalties of five and ten years in prison. Don’t go away folks, Naked News continues, right after this.
