Hello, everyone. I’m Alana Blaire, and I’m joined today by our amazing Guest Anchor, Krysta Lynn! Welcome back to the program!!

Thank you so much Alana, its always a pleasure being here, especially so soon after my LAST appearance!

All right, Krysta and I have a great show for you today, and it all starts in our Naked Newsroom with a story about credit card debt. Question for you, do you keep a balance on your credit card or pay it off each month? Well, obviously there’s a wide range of behavior among individuals… but as a whole, Americans are seriously racking up their credit card debt!

Sarah Harlow’s in the Naked Newsroom with the story!

Ladies, America’s collective credit card debt saw a small dip in the first quarter of this year, but it’s back to the all-time high reached last year. And the number is staggering – one-point-two-one TRILLION dollars! Credit card debt was more or less stable for decades but has ballooned ever since the pandemic! It’s also worth noting that only fifty-four percent of cardholders pay their balances in full each month… and nearly seven percent of balances moved into delinquency over the last year!

The fashion brand Zara has proven that models CAN, in fact, be too skinny – at least in the U.K.! The nation’s advertising regulator has banned two Zara ads with models that appeared, quote, β€œunhealthily thin.” While the brand DID take down the ads, it made a point of noting that it hadn’t received any direct complaints and that the models had β€œmedical certification” that proved they were healthy when the pictures were taken. Still, a good reminder for the fashion industry that you can’t go wrong with curves!

And America is launching a pilot program that will require some visitors to the country to pay bonds of up to FIFTEEN THOUSAND dollars to enter! The idea is to target people from countries with high rates of overstaying visas, and it’ll start with guests from just two countries – the African nations of Zambia and Malawi. In 2023, these countries had overstay rates of around ten and fourteen percent respectively… though for what it’s worth, that was only about six hundred people combined!

This pilot program begins on August 20th and will run for about a year. Guess we’ll see how it goes! I’m Sarah Harlow, and I’ll be back shortly with more headlines.
