And I’m Alana Blaire and THIS, is Naked News! Let’s get right to it Izzy, age verification: an appropriate response to adult content, or government overreach? Well, people who like their privacy AND “immediate-access” to adult sites, aren’t too thrilled about age verification.

And after what just happened, I’m pretty sure we can add the country of FRANCE to that list. Tia joins us now in the Naked Newsroom with the details. What’s going on Tia?

What’s going on, ladies, is that Pornhub has pulled out of France, and the French aren’t too happy about it. LET’S GET TO THE NEWS! Pornhub’s parent company Aylo has cited France’s new age verification law, for pulling its site from the country. They say it’s a privacy risk and that age assessment should be done at the device level. And this is no small sacrifice – Pornhub is the world’s most visited porn site, and France is its second biggest market, behind only the U.S. Given that Pornhub has also left several American states because of age verification laws, this does seem to be the pattern – and we’ll have to see who blinks first!

In other news, a Chinese couple have been charged with smuggling what’s described as a “dangerous biological pathogen” into the United States! Zunyong Liu apparently tried to bring in the fungus which can cause crop-destroying diseases. Liu’s girlfriend is a researcher who may have just wanted to continue her studies of the fungus… but officials claim her previous work was funded by the Chinese government, which they claim is a grave national security concern.

And Sweden is officially planning to export some of its CONVICTS to Estonia! The plan still needs to be approved by both countries’ parliaments, but the idea is that Sweden would be able to send up to six hundred of their convicted felons to serve their sentences in an Estonian prison. It would of course be controversial, but Sweden is struggling mightily with prison overcrowding – recent figures show they had around seventy-three-hundred inmates in around fifty-two-hundred cells!
