Osen, once a famous courtesan in Yoshiwara has become a lowland prostitute whom her colleagues and clients consider cursed despite her beauty. Three of her clients died in obscure circumstances while being served by her. Her encounter with a sadist painter and then with a puppet showman whose blind sister is exposed for a double suicide that failed, as well as the crude but absolute love that a brutal pampered him, seem to confirm his destiny.
