Well, it seems like we’re hearing about vehicle recalls almost weekly these days, which doesn’t give a lot of confidence in how they’re made.
And as Emily is about to explain in the Naked Newsroom, it’s not a recall YET, but some owners of Honda and Acura vehicles might want to pay close attention.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating reports of engine failure that could involve more than a MILLION Honda and Acura vehicles! Following roughly four hundred reports, these engine failures were actually first investigated under a recall in November of 2023. But since it was determined that the engine problems were unrelated to what they THOUGHT was the cause, that investigation was closed… and now, a NEW one is opening! Let’s hope this one goes better!
Donald Trump signed a couple new executive orders, one aimed at ending cashless bail and the other aimed at ending flag burning. In the case of cashless bail, that’s not something that’s decided at the federal level, but the order threatens to withhold federal funds from cities that don’t get rid of it. As for flag burning, the Supreme Court famously ruled that it’s protected as symbolic speech under the First Amendment, so I guess we’ll see what happens!
And the OTHER co-founder of Mexico’s infamous Sinaloa cartel will be spending the rest of his life in prison! Ismael Zambada, better known as El Mayo, has pleaded guilty to one count of taking part in a continuing criminal enterprise and one count of racketeering conspiracy. And as a result, he will OFFICIALLY be sentenced to life in prison on January 13th. Mind you, he IS now 75… but his arrest in July of 2024 WAS quite exciting, AND as part of his plea, he’s also going to be forfeiting FIFTEEN BILLION dollars!
Hopefully, some of that money makes its way to the families of his victims! Back in a bit!
