Hello, everyone, and welcome back to Naked News. I’m Alana Blaire, and here’s what’s making headlines today.
Fresh off of deploying thousands of armed National Guard troops to the streets of Washington, D.C., Donald Trump is threatening to do the same thing to several other cities. Among them Chicago and Baltimore! Chicago’s mayor has pledged to take legal action if that happens, so I guess we’ll see how this all plays out!
The U.S. State Department has said that all of the over fifty-five million people with valid U.S. visas are subject to “continuous vetting”, and that it would be looking for violations that could lead to deportation. On the same day, it was announced that the U.S. will no longer be issuing work visas to commercial truck drivers, with Marco Rubio saying on X that these foreign drivers were “endangering American lives and undercutting the livelihoods of American truckers.”
And several postal services from around the world are halting shipments to the U.S. over confusion about how the new import duties will work. Basically, the law which allowed goods worth up to eight hundred dollars to enter the country duty-free has been rescinded, and any package worth over a hundred dollars is now subject to tariffs. And there’s uncertainty about how these duties will be collected! Countries at least pausing their shipments to the U.S. include Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Denmark and New Zealand.
That’s your first look at the news. Krysta is explaining “floodlighting” in Dating Uncovered, right after this.
