I’m Sarah Harlow, welcome to Naked News! We hope everyone had a fantastic long Labor Day weekend. Its back to school for many and back to work for the rest of us. So let’s get this week started with some headlines, shall we?
A federal appeals court ruled that many of Donald Trump’s tariffs are ILLEGAL! This upholds an earlier decision saying multiple tariffs, including ten percent baseline tariffs nearly across the board, “exceeded (Trump’s) power under federal economic emergency laws”. The ruling also covers the jacked-up “reciprocal” tariffs on many countries, AND the tariffs on Mexico, China, and Canada ostensibly intended to encourage crackdowns on drug trafficking and illegal immigration. The ruling will take effect in October, allowing the Trump administration time to appeal to the Supreme Court, if they choose.
It was a “good news – bad news” weekend for Rudy Giuliani! On Saturday evening, the former New York mayor was involved in a high-speed accident on the highway that sent him to hospital with fractures and other injuries. But on Monday, Donald Trump announced Giuliani would be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom! That’s the country’s highest civilian honor. While in recent years, Giuliani has been disbarred and sued for spreading phony conspiracy theories, before then, he DID have an impressive career as a New York City prosecutor, then Mayor!
And Delta Airlines will pay out seventy-nine MILLION dollars to settle a 2020 class-action lawsuit. In January of that year, a Delta flight from L.A. to Shanghai had to turn back due to engine troubles. And in order to get the plane’s weight down for a safe landing, the pilots released fifteen THOUSAND gallons of fuel over residential areas! Thousands of properties were splashed with a “rain” of jet fuel, including an elementary school where dozens of students and teachers had to seek medical treatment.
There’s more Naked News on the way, including headlines – so don’t go away!
